Medicom Toy Corporation based in Shibuya, Tokyo had been founded in 1996, concentrating on producing limited edition figures and licensed products. It is home of worldwide successful Kubrick and Be@rbrick toy series, Be@rbricks have been the first toy being put into a platform for characters and clients.

As variation of the original Kubrick Design Japanese toy producer Medicom introduced the cartoonesq pot bellied bear figure line back in 2001.

The Be@rbrick blind box series are made around a concept that each series always includes figures in these 10 different themes:

Basic - solid colored w/ one letter of the word Be@rbrick on chest
Jellybean - translucent sold colored
Pattern - patterned deco
Flag- a nations flag
Horror - something scary
SF - a figure related to science-fictional themes
Cute - figures, sweet and charming
Animal - a figure based on a living creature
Artist - always two figures of two visual artist, second one most rarest

This lists order reflects the preset frequency of how many figures of each topic are actually in a series from more Basic figures to the more rare Artist ones. These standard or 100% Be@rbricks are about 7cm in height, but there is extra Be@rbricks apart from the blind box concept in different sizes, a 400% is then respectively about 28cm.
